Trapped

You used to ignore me

Leaving me behind

I gave up

No one was by my side

Sitting alone was hard to do

But now it doesn’t bother me

I’m smart

Even though I’m disabled

I am special in my own way

I’m the girl on the inside

Important Holocaust Messages

The Holocaust taught me important lessons. Everyone is important no matter what nationality, or race someone is they are important. We all bleed the same color, and that makes us humans which means we should be treated equally to everyone else

It was hard to type only 2 lessons out of everything I’ve learned. You never know what someone is capable of doing. And you don’t know what they could be hiding. All through the Holocaust people did many things people didn’t think a person would do. Lies surrounded the war, making things even worse.

Number the Stars

Dear Diary,

Septemember 30, 1940

Today I was told I would have to stay with Annemarie’s family for a while. My cover is to act like her sister. Although it’s an easy task I’m still questionable about it. I have been informed that my parents are with a boy named Peter. A sweet trustworthy boy.

The reason I’m here is because of the annoying Nazis that tell us what we can and can’t do. Since when do they have that authority! One thing I know about this situation is something called “relocation”. They take Jews like me. I haven’t been this terrified in my life! I especially don’t want to start the Jewish New Year out scared for my family.

Annemarie’s mother and father were trying to cheer me up at the dinner table. Which didn’t work at all! Soon after, I was alone in the living room with Annemarie and her Papa. I could tell everything was bothering them too. He explained that the Nazis took names and addresses of all the Jews at the synagogue. They want to arrest us and take us away. I don’t understand it’s like they are obsessed with us! I sat silently crying. I then let it all out loudly sobbing. It was like I couldn’t stop. I feel scared and safe all at once. I have faith in Annemarie’s family, and I know they will do anything to keep me safe.

                                                                                                                                                                                                     Ellen

Is Communicating or Technology Better?

There is a large number of similarities between communicating in technology and in person. When you’re talking online and in person you can use creativity with your brain. You can show your creativity by sharing ideas on messages, Skype, or even Instagram. Both talking face to face with a person or texting can be time consuming. People can go on and on about what they did on the weekend on a device or talking relatively close to you. Either way there are still bullies. Cyberbullies are the people that same mean comments on a device. Studies have shown most people are victims of cyber bulling. Other types of bullies you could see at school, the mall, and etc..

These two topics both have similarities, but they also have differences. Distance is an issue for people that want to talk in person, unless you want to travel long hours to communicate. Technology can allow you to speak to someone in a different country while trying to talk in person from a distance isn’t so easy. Technology is unreliable when it comes to calls. Cellular devices tend to cut sound out of calls, or the phone might end the call itself! Talking in person is reliable because you can hear clearly, and don’t have to worry hearing. Communicating in person or in technology has some good things and some drawbacks, but are some good ways to talk to your loved ones.

Mystery Island

Mystery Island

Swish! Swoosh! The turquoise ocean grabbed me and Lillian from beneath our feet. Screaming we were pulled out to sea. We struggled to get to shore, but the riptide was too strong. Before we knew it we were miles away from safety.
“Where are we?” I asked shocked. “I – I think we were in a riptide!” Lillian commented almost to tears. We decided to swim to the nearest island. It took us about an hour to get there. When we got to the island we plopped on the white sand, exhausted.
I guess we dozed off because the next second it was extremely hot and sunny, but something was different. very different. Lillian was gone!
Desperately, I called her name over and over, but no response. Worried, I searched left and right. On the opposite side of the island is where I found her, on the shore, lying by a raft. “Lillian, why are you here?” I asked calming down. “I made a raft so we can go home!” She explained. Lillian pushed the boat into the water then she hopped on, and I was right behind her. “To civilization!” she shrieked.
We paddled with our hands. Everything was going great until… the waves changed direction pulling us toward the island like a rope. “How can waves do that!?” I questioned. Lillian looked terrified.
Five minutes later we were back at the island.

We tried a million times to leave, but something was holding us here, something very mysterious, something horrifying. Out of everyone else why did it choose me and Lillian?
